Cocoa, Cookies & Baby Jesus

Join us for our Cocoa, Cookies & Baby Jesus event on Sunday, Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. Originally called the “Blessing of the Bambinelli” this Italian tradition was first instituted by St. John Paul II in Rome in 1969 and continues today. On the Third Sunday of Advent, the children of Rome are encouraged to bring the baby Jesus (Bambinelli) from their Nativity sets to St. Peter’s Square for a blessing. It is a beautiful Advent tradition, one that sanctifies the home with the baby Jesus and makes his arrival in the manger scene an even more joyous event.

So, bring the baby Jesus figurine from your manger scene (or the whole manger if baby Jesus is attached) and have it blessed by Fr. Jim for Christmas! We’ll begin in the church with a short prayer service and then move to Marian Hall for cocoa and cookies. Weather permitting, Fr. Jim will build a fire on the patio outside Marian Hall where we will sing Christmas carols and warm ourselves by the fire as we sip cocoa and munch on cookies. 

This event is FREE and open to kids from 1 to 92! All are welcome!
