Protecting God's Children

Adults who volunteer for St. Joseph Church & School and have contact with children are required to attend a VIRTUS workshop called "Protecting God's Children" (PGC). All volunteers must attend PGC and submit to a Criminal History Background Check. Typically, the PGC workshop is a three-hour in-person session. Though at this time, St. Joseph does not have an in-person session scheduled, you will find workshops offered at other local area parishes. If you are a new volunteer or if you have always meant to take the workshop but were never able to find the time, now is your opportunity! You can register for an in-person course at the link below.

Registration Steps:

1. Click the green "First-Time Registrant" button
2. Select "Begin the Registration Process"
3. Select "Detroit, MI (Archdiocese)"
4. Create a VIRTUS Account then log in to VIRTUS Online
5. Register for the online PGC session or select an available in-person session.

NOTE: The mandatory PGC workshop is for all adult parish and school volunteers who work with children. Participants for the three-hour class MUST arrive on time and stay until the end to receive their certificate. A light dinner is served at 5:30. Registration must be completed via the Archdiocese of Detroit (link above).

The PGC VIRTUS Workshop helps to identify best practices that have been designed to help prevent wrongdoing and promote "rightdoing" within religious organizations.
