Catholicism is so rich in theology, history and tradition, and is impossible to know everything! The big "however" is that our God is yearning for a relationship with us beyond our Mass experience, and as we learn and pray, God pulls us deeper and deeper into communion with Him and with his Son, Jesus. We Grow closer to Him every time we enter into the prayer of the most Holy Mass, through reading the Living Word of God, through Prayer, by receiving the Sacraments and by spending time with our brothers and sisters in Community and Fellowship. Because of our love for God and by the grace of our Baptism, we are called to love God and to be servants of God and of one another... the whole of the body of Christ.
In order to love and serve to the best of our abilities, faith formation is one crucial component that can aid us in our spiritual journey in an increasingly secular world. We are called to proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ, to care for the least among us and to pave the way to heaven for those whom we are in relationship with by virtue of our creation by our One God.
Let's face it, life can be thoroughly challenging. Our limits are tested every day... there is enough sadness and fear to go around for many lifetimes. God offers us SO MUCH MORE than what this world could EVER offer us! He offers us his son Jesus, who continues to teach us how to live IN the world but not be OF the world. Proverbs 3:5 tells us to "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding". We need one another, the body of Christ, to help us LIVE what Proverbs is promising us.
2Corinthians 4:5 tells us that "For what we proclaim is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, with ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake." How can we proclaim Jesus' name if we don't spend time to get to know Him? Adult Faith formation doesn't end with the Sacrament of Confirmation... it actually begins there! It's a lifelong journey, and I would very much like to walk with you on that most Holy Ground. Let's grow our spiritual muscles together!!
